Brazilian football star Dani Alves is now in prison after being arrested for sexually harassing a woman. Alvez, who once earned huge sums of money playing football and lived a life of luxury, is now seeing the other side of the coin.
Alvez was taken to the Bryans-1 Penitentiary Center in Sant Esteve Ceserovires, Catalonia, after his bail was revoked. The former defender of Barcelona spent the first night in this court after his arrest.
The center was opened in 2017 to replace the Modelo prison in Barcelona. Located 40 kilometers from Barcelona, this center is located on an area of 61 thousand 562 square meters.
Alvez is kept in the admission section of this prison. The Brazilian rightback will be detained here until the next decision of the court about him.
According to information provided by the Spanish media Marker, the prison currently holds 625 inmates. The prison has several buildings, where cultural, educational and sports activities are conducted. Other facilities include library, exercise room and assembly hall.
However, the Spanish prisons are not at all satisfied with this prison. They had earlier criticized the prison for understaffing and lax security. Alvez is also going through extreme conditions in prison, according to Marca. Although he is currently kept in a separate part of the prison. These special rooms are mainly reserved for star prisoners.
Alvez broke down mentally on his first day in prison. On this day, he spoke very little with the policemen who were in charge of security. And even after eating some fruit, he did not even touch dinner. Apart from this, he did not call anyone even though he was allowed to call. He does not remember the phone numbers of himself and others in the family.
Meanwhile, his former teammate and the current coach of the Barcelona team, Xavi Hernandez, commented that Alvez was surprised and stunned by this incident. The Spanish legend said, 'It is difficult to comment on such a situation. I am surprised and stunned. I am confused. Feeling sorry for him. I'm surprised.'
